The Ennis Tidy Towns has won many gold medals at the National Tidy Towns Awards including the national award in 2005. Early in the year there is a Spring Clean event and this energises the various residential and community groups to assist in the clean-up and maintenance of a litter free environment in our community. A number of organisations adopt a particular entrance road to the town and the Lions Club of Ennis has adopted the Kilrush Road. Every second Tuesday during Spring, Summer and Autumn a group of club volunteers, family and friends carryout a litter pick on the Kilrush Road. The club members support the Tidy Towns in their own residential areas by providing assistance and a leadership role in their community. As a result of the endeavours of the Tidy Towns and the Community, Ennis has been designated as “Cleaner than European norms” in 2020 on IBAL Litter League and won the IBAL tidiest Town Award in 2017.
